RDA/US Data Share Early Career Program Announces 2017 Fellowship Awards

RDA/US Data Share, an early career engagement program for the Research Data Alliance/US is pleased to announce its selection of the 2017 cohort of Fellows. The Data Share program, formed in 2015 through grant funding from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, selects Fellows to engage with, study and contribute to the RDA. The program aims at strengthening fellows’ careers and their institutions in data science and data sharing through engagement with the large, international community of RDA.

RDA/US Call for Fellows - Deadline Extended to 3/15

RDA/US invites applications for its Early Career Data Share fellowship program. The successful Fellows will engage in the RDA through carrying out self-proposed projects and through extensive networking and communication with the RDA community. The program is 12 or 18 months depending on the nature of the project; accordingly, Fellows will receive a $5000 or $10,000 stipend.

RDA's 9th Plenary in Barcelona - Call for Posters Now Open!

RDA's 9th Plenary meeting will host a poster session offering participants the possibility to showcase their work to an audience of data practitioners, computer scientists, researchers, policy makers and private sector representatives.The goal of the session is to facilitate the sharing of ideas, research or project developments, results and successful outcomes with the full RDA Community! 

The posters are scheduled to be on display during the Plenary lunch and coffee breaks from April 5-7, 2017. 

RDA's Repository Audit and Certification Working Group Publishes Results of Testbed

The Repository Audit and Certification DSA–WDS Partnership Working Group is an RDA Working Group, co- chaired by RDA/US member Mary Vardigan (former Assistant Director of ICPS), Lesley Rickards (British Oceanographic Data Centre) and Rorie Edmunds (ICSU World Data System [WDS]).

Position Available: RDA Secretary General - Deadline is February 20

RDA is recruiting a Secretary General to begin in April 2017. The ideal candidate is a suitably experienced leader with a demonstrated ability to engage with the members, Council and senior stakeholders of the RDA, and the ability to be a key driver of the RDA mission of rapidly building the social and technical bridges that enable sharing of data.

The Secretary General reports to the co-chairs of the RDA Council.

Host RDA's 11th Plenary in 2018!

RDA is seeking proposals from organizations or countries interested in hosting its 11th Plenary Meeting in early 2018 (from late February to early April).

These Plenary meetings are working events, built around the breakout sessions of the RDA Working, Interest and Birds of a Feather Groups and occur every six months with the goal of supporting and facilitating the current work of RDA and to inform and broaden the reach of RDA. With often more than 600 participants, these meetings provide great visibility and enhanced global stature for hosting agencies and organizations.

NSF RFI on Future Needs for Advanced Cyberinfrastructure – Deadline is April 5, 2017

The National Science Foundation has posted an RFI on Future Needs for Advanced Cyberinfrastructure (NSF CI 2030).  Contributions will be used during the coming year to inform the Foundation's strategy and plans for advanced cyberinfrastructure investments.  The deadline to submit comments is April 5, 2017.  Learn more at
