Dr. Leslie McIntosh
Dr. Leslie McIntosh is the Director of the Center for Biomedical Informatics at the Washington University St. Louis School of Medicine (WUSTL), as well as a member of the RDA/US Leadership team and co-chair of RDA’s Health Data Interest Group. WUSTL is also an organizational member of RDA.
Leslie’s Informatics team at WUSTL designs, develops, and manages informatics tools and health data, and provides informatics expertise to facilitate translating health data to information in support of clinical and translational research. With a background in epidemiology, biostatistics and informatics, her current research focuses on working with health data in the full research cycle from data collection, management, and sharing through discoverability and reuse.
With an interest in data and research reproducibility issues across Electronic Health Records, clinical studies, biospecimens, and mobile health data. Her work entails developing, expanding, integrating, and utilizing both large (i.e. hundreds of terabytes) and heterogeneous (i.e. thousands of variables from multiple sources) health data to provide meaningful decision support to improve health care delivery and research.
Leslie joined RDA in 2014 and has since become an outspoken advocate of the importance of adopting RDA’s recommendations, specifically in the context of using them to efficiently and effectively share informatics expertise across domains. To learn more about her involvement and success within RDA, download the archived version of her January 2017 webinar titled “Adoption of the RDA Data Citation of Evolving Data Recommendation to Electronic Health Records.”
